2024 Calendar of NSNA Events
The Near South Neighborhood Association is the area north of South Street to G Street, west to 13th Street and east to 27th Street. We are a neighborhood that appreciates and embraces diversity. We have stately homes, affordable rentals, funky stores and restaurants, neighbors who care, beautiful places of worship and wonderful schools. We have easy access to public transportation, ample parking and bike routes. It’s a place with a distinct historic character and tradition of preservation and sustainability.
Join us to have a voice in issues of concern to Lincoln neighborhoods. It’s the oldest, strongest neighborhood association in Lincoln. www.nearsouth.org/membership. Annual memberships start at just $10.
SPRING CLEANING TIME: April 20, 2024. Join your neighbors to help pick up garbage. We begin accepting trash and recycling items at 10:00AM. We accept tires until 2:00PM. We end at 3:00PM. Volunteer teams will walk the Near South to pick up garbage. Make it a family affair! Bring items to Lincoln High School’s NW parking lot, such as tires, appliances, furniture, recyclables, limbs. Can’t drive? Volunteers can pick them up for you. Contact Deb Cosgrove for more information and volunteer.
NSNA ANNUAL PLANT SALE: May 4, 9am–1pm
Get ready for spring planting and support the Near South Neighborhood Association. Southview Christian Church parking lot, 22nd & South St. Credit Card, Venmo, Cash. Contact Christina Bavougian to donate plants, garden supplies, outdoor items, or to volunteer.
NEAR SOUTH ANNUAL GARAGE SALE: Sat., June 1, 8am–4pm
Put your address on the map and increase your sales! Russ’s Market (17th & Washington) will have maps at Customer Service for shoppers. NSNA sponsors Journal Star ads & social media - free to participants. Contact: Cathy Wilken to participate (deadline May 24). Consider donating a some of your profits to NSNA. Thank you!
GIVE TO LINCOLN: May 30, 2023
Every donation to NSNA gets a proportional share of a $500,000 matching fund through the Lincoln Community Foundation and generous sponsors. Gifts made between May 1 and May 30 count toward the match. Your G2L gift will help NSNA secure a portion of these matching funds to support our neighborhood events, and our newest venture – renovating a historic home!
