Gratitude for Steve and Alice
Sincere congratulations to Steve Nosal and Alice Reed on your much deserved retirement. Eighty-six combined years of serving Lincoln’s gardens is a tremendous accomplishment. We are incredibly grateful to you both.
When visitors come to Lincoln, the top two “must visit” spots are the Nebraska State Capitol and, of course, the Sunken Gardens. Many of us have sweet memories of visiting with our mothers, aunts, grandmothers in the lazy days of summer. Your dedication to the work, creativity, and engineering, all speak to your passion and commitment to “garden art.” Engagements, weddings, family photos - the focal point of something special happening - the Sunken Gardens is where it is documented for generations to remember.
I want to personally thank Steve for the countless hours he committed to the Near South Neighborhood Association as we renovated our beautiful neighborhood gardens and parks. You have set the mark high. I cannot help but wonder if anyone stepping into your wellies will fit. Time will tell, but right now the time is yours to cherish. Wishing you both well on your travels through your future Magical Mystery Tour of life. I know you will take time to smell the roses.
