NSNA Annual Meeting Recap

The 2024 Near South Neighborhood Association Annual Meeting / Potluck is in the history books. All tables were full as were our plates with lots of yummy potluck favorites. President Vish Reddi welcomed guests and introduced our mayor and neighbor, Leirion Gaylor Baird, who gave a brief outline of where we are as a city and the importance of maintaining a strong and vibrant core.

The business part of the evening included the Executive Committee and even-numbered Section Representatives voted in and the fiscal year Treasurer’s Report accepted. Vish then spoke about the highlights and accomplishments of the board in 2024.

Next on the agenda was a fascinating program presented by Nash Leef from Flatwater Carbon regarding Lincoln’s Local Food System Plan 2023-2027 (Lincoln.ne.gov – search Local Food System Plan 2023-2027) and how “biochar” made from super-heating downed trees will benefit our farms, gardens, and floodplains in the future.
