Luminarias return to Goodhue Boulevard
The Near South Neighborhood Association took a hiatus last year from luminarias, but we’ll be back on Christmas Eve. You may recall, last year, we had a very rainy day. Luminarias are a Southwest tradition that has spread across the country. Each luminaria has a candle that is lit and set in a paper bag filled with sand, so it doesn’t blow away. Together with volunteers from the neighborhood, 560 luminarias will be lit at around 4 p.m., December 24.
